Choosing the Right Hard Drive

One thing is for sure, the hard drive is something that no computer can be without. In fact, when you are looking to upgrade your computer or buy a new one you should use the hard drive as one of the most important considerations to follow. There are all types of affordable hard drives to choose from though. These will help to not only give your computer a place for its data to be stored but they will be useful in that you will not have to spend more money than you need to.
The first thing to consider when finding affordable hard drives is the capacity of the hard drive. While larger hard drives have become the way to go for some computers these days the more affordable hard drives are going to be the ones that have lower levels of data capacity. A hard drive that fits 250GB of data will certainly cost less than that of an 800GB hard drive.

Portable media is one of the most popular things that can be used. Whether it is for an MP3 player, a digital camera or something that is just used to transport files around, portable media can be used to easily transfer information from one computer to another. There are numerous portable media inputs to look into. The most popular of the portable media inputs for computers is the USB input. The Universal Serial Bus input is used to improve plug and play compatibility so that devices can be easily connected to a computer without having to restart the computer or install additional software. Flash drives are especially popular among USB inputs, but various other programs and hardware will use this. This includes MP3 players that use USB connections to connect the player to the computer or portable video players that work in the same way. Hardware for the computers have been using USB inputs too, including computer speakers, monitors and printers.
An SD card is another of the portable media inputs for computers. Short for Secure Digital, this is a popular method of data storage for all different types of digital media. This includes digital cameras, GPS devices and PDA computers. Many of the top cards can hold multiple gigabytes of information. SD cards are becoming popular in these devices and more computers have built in SD card readers. SDHC cards, which are Secure Digital High Capacity cards, are also popular and can be read on these computers. These cards are known for using the FAT32 file system and can handle more than ten gigabytes of data.
Virus Hoaxes

“Warning!,” the email screams. “There’s a new virus going around, and Microsoft says it’s the worst one yet!” After this amazing bit of hype, the email continues with “Once this virus infects your system, it will delete all the files on your hard drive, reset your computer clock, and make your screen only show green and black!”
Anyone who has made it this far is then asked to “forward this virus warning to everyone you know!” and “Delete any emails you get with the title “Have a nice day!’ This email has all the signs of a virus hoax.
First, viruses are not magical or all-powerful. Yes, they can damage your data. Viruses have been known to erase hard drives, delete documents, even forward classified documents to random email addresses. But, to date, only one virus (CIH, or Chernobyl) has actually been able to damage hardware. CIH found a way to overwrite the BIOS, or read-only memory.

Windows 7 is the codename of the next operating system that is currently developed by Microsoft and scheduled to be released in two or three years. The first question that I had to answer when speaking about Windows 7 for the first time was why it was named that way. Why was it named Windows 7 ? You should first realize that this is only a codename and not the final name, a temporary name that is being used to address the new operating system.

This is not about to turn out as an article on Ten Things I Hate About Vista. There is already a great number of technically enlightening pieces that will do that for anyone. This article will instead focus on what basic common user observations point out as unfortunate Vista innovations from old XP features. Some of the items are humorously simple and superficial. They should not be ignored though because a great majority of people around the world are not technology experts and can only make basic observations. Sometimes though, basic observations are what can make or break a product simply because there are more average people than computer geniuses.
